I got to perform “Pseudonym” with Tracy to open for Sierra. I am SO adding that to any future bios- “has opened for Sierra DeMulder.” Ingamar came out, which I was really happy about—kid is going to be a fucking menace in the 09-10 season.
Fritz did two new poems, one of which sent up the Intangibles and was a blast, the other about Dan Choi, the Army Lieutenant who worked as an Arabic translator and was discharged for being openly homosexual. Killed it. Matt Siegel showed up!!! The Apprentice, one of the new members of the Nuyorican Slam team, performed a poem. Matt performed a Frank O’Hara poem. Omni & Eden did "Requiem of Human Percussion." Chris Milea did two pieces, and was beautiful as always.
Sierra performed a good mix of slam and shorter pieces. The poetry tag just took a break, which may be permanent, but it’s alright, it has been a great night, no doubt. Tomorrow is Omni’s run-off at the Nuyo, and I am so excited for him. Sierra DeMulder is in town, which is wonderful. I love the world right now. And I will likely write a new poem tonight because the Intangibles have sparked the blood in my wrist to move.
P.S Cheers to Lolita Bar for having free wi-fi access so that I may post this while in the basement/performance space of a fucking bar. Love it. Love life. Keep Moving.
